OffLabel is a browser extension that reads the ingredient list on beauty and personal-care product pages and gives you an AI-generated verdict personalized to a profile you create. This policy explains, in plain English, what we collect and why.
Using OffLabel requires a free account (sign in with Google or email). We collect and store, in our cloud database: your email address and account ID; the skin/hair profile you build (e.g. skin type, hair type, concerns, age range, climate); the items you save; and a count of how many products you've scanned. When you're signed in, this syncs across your devices.
To produce a verdict, the product's ingredient list (read from the page you're viewing) and the profile attributes needed for the verdict are sent to our server, which uses a third-party AI model to generate the personalized result. We do not collect your general browsing history.
If you start a paid subscription, payment is handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details — Stripe processes them under its own privacy policy. We store only your subscription status and a Stripe customer reference.
We record usage events (a persistent random identifier, the retailer's domain, the product name, the resulting score, and aggregated profile attributes) to understand and improve OffLabel. Because that identifier is persistent, we treat this as personal data — not "anonymous."
We share data only with the providers that run OffLabel: Supabase (sign-in + cloud database), Render (our server), Stripe (payments), DeepSeek (the AI model that generates verdicts), and Netlify (our website). We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
Uninstalling the extension does NOT delete your account data from our servers. To erase everything we hold — your profile, saved items, usage, subscription, and login — open the OffLabel popup and choose Delete account, or email us below and we'll do it. You may also request a copy of your data. Depending on where you live (e.g. the EU/UK under GDPR, or California under the CCPA), you may have additional rights to access, correct, port, or delete your data.
OffLabel is intended only for adults aged 18 and older. It is not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has provided us their information, contact us at the address below and we will delete it.
We may update this policy; the date above reflects the latest version.
