OffLabel is a browser extension that reads the ingredient list on beauty and personal-care product pages and gives you a verdict personalized to a profile you create. This policy explains, in plain English, what we collect and why. We collect as little as possible.
When you set up OffLabel you tell us about your skin and hair (for example: skin type, hair type, concerns, age range, climate). This is stored on your device via your browser's extension storage, and may sync to your own browser account if you use browser sync. Your name is optional and stays on your device. We do not require an account, a login, or your email.
To produce a verdict, the product's ingredient list (read from the page you are viewing) and your profile details are sent to our server, which uses an AI model to generate the personalized result. We do not store your general browsing history.
To understand how OffLabel is used and to improve it, each check records anonymous usage data: a random identifier that is not linked to your identity, the retailer's domain, the product name, the resulting score, and aggregated profile attributes (e.g. skin type, age range, concerns). This is never tied to your name, email, or any personal identifier.
We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.
Your profile stays on your device until you delete it or uninstall the extension — uninstalling removes your local data. Anonymous analytics are kept only in aggregate. To ask anything about your data, contact us below.
OffLabel is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
We may update this policy; the date above reflects the latest version.
